About Howard

My Story & Who I am
I’m Howard Longstaff an executive career, business and life coach with over 30 years’ experience building, scaling, and selling companies across three continents.
My career has taken me from luxury hotels to technology sales, then into recruitment during the height of the dot-com boom. I grew a global recruitment business with offices in London, New York, Los Angeles and New Zealand, leading teams of 50+ people and generating millions in turnover. I’ve also built and sold consultancies, navigated market crashes, and reinvented myself more than once.
I know success. I also know stress, burnout, and the weight of uncertainty. I’ve been through career pivots, financial crises, and personal reinventions. Above all, I know how easy it is to feel stuck – overthinking every option, doubting yourself, or feeling like an imposter even after decades of achievement.
What I bring to coaching isn’t theory. You can find that online.
I offer a rare mix of business acumen, human insight, and lived experience. Over 30 years and thousands of interviews, I’ve developed a high level of acuity:
⦁ Sensory – reading people beyond words
⦁ Cognitive – cutting through the noise to what really matters
⦁ Emotional – balancing inclusion, trust, and resilience
⦁ Social – sensing the room and finding equilibrium
⦁ Verbal – hearing the message behind the words (and the silences)
Clients describe me as authentic, direct, and energising. Together we can generate ideas, explore options and tailor your next steps with your life at the centre.
My role isn’t to hand you answers. Rather, it’s to help you discover the clarity, confidence, and momentum you need to create your next chapter with purpose.
As Patrick Rothfuss shares in ‘The Wise Man’s Fear’
“The point isn’t to win the game. The point is to play a beautiful game. Why would you wish to win anything other than a beautiful game?
The point is to be bold. To be dangerous. But be elegant.”
I live by this mantra.
My invitation to you is this – are you ready to live by a mantra that serves you in the same way?
